Purchased the isam to help in training my 3 children who play competitive tennis. The price was great [...]. I didn't order a remote and can see I wouldn't need it. I have the regular battery charger and it works pretty fast, charges completely after maybe 4 hours. I run it down everyday and charge it back up completely. Battery life is about 3 hours of non-stop hits. Ball speed and feed rate are great. Osalation is terrible, so if you are getting this machine so that you can run back and forth and hit balls from the baseline I'd recommend finding another machine. But if you want to hit hundreds of forehands and, independently, hundreds of backhands, this will work great. You can set it up for overheads and volleys. It meets our needs and we love that we can fill it up with hundreds of balls and it just keeps churning them out. As for the weight of the machine, I am pretty strong so have no problem carrying it from my car right to the courts, but if you aren't too strong I'd recommend a luggage cart as others have mentioned.

purchase was exactly as expected. no sales tax or add ons. machine was well-packaged [...] Machine was fully charged when received. Battery life is well over 2 hours, since we have yet to drain it. Recharges easily overnight. Machine works well with my 5 year old up to 4.0 level. There is no spin, but at top speed, the balls curve pretty well anyway.Machine is somewhat heavy and bulky and probably should not be carried by women, kids or weakish men or people with short arms. It can be carried on wheels (a computer cart would work well).Would definitely recommend to anyone at this point.

It does what it said it does. I use it at my neiborhood court atleast two times a week. For a plain jane basic model it delivers reliably. It is a little bulky to transport (no wheels), however a trip to the garden store solved the broblem. I wheel it on a garden cart (20 dollars at [...]) Inside I carry my tennis balls.On the court it is a lot of fun. Easy load and pick up. For the price I am very satisfied. Yes I would by it again.

The machine is very portable and easily carried. I have yet to run the battery dead while in use. Takes only a few minutes to set it up. It would be nice if it had a little more power but it is a great way to groove your ground strokes. The oscillation is very inconsistent and many times either rapid fires the balls from side to side or keeps you waiting while it tries to reload. Can't beat the benefits for the price.

A little bit heavy, but the straps are handy for loading it into the car and the top comes off and covers the base nicely, so it doesn't take up quite so much space for storage. Using a luggage cart to bring it to the court was a great suggestion. It works great for beginners thru 4.0 to 4.5 level players. Good work out, good to use to fine tune your strokes. Not loud at all. Haven't had it long enough to test out the battery life.

My husband, 8 year old son and I have loved this ball machine. We've used it several times and have been very happy with the performance. The 4 star rating was due to the fact that is is a little bulky and doesn't have wheels. It fits on a small hand truck we have, so the size hasn't been much of a problem for us. Machine arrived earlier than expected, and i was informed of every step of the shipment. Very professional ordering and delivery process. LOOOOVE the machine. I was skeptical of a machine at this price but it is perfect for me -- even overheads are great practice and a workout -- and my 10 year old son who is just starting along with his 7 year old sister cant get enough. The only one in the family not liking it is our labrador retriever as the ball machine is pure torture for him to watch. Thanks for a great machine!!!! I've only had the ball machine for a short while, but I love it! I can play every morning without relying on a tennis partner. It's perfect for working on swing accuracy and consistency, and it provides a great workout. I would highly recommend getting a foldable luggage cart as it's awkward and heavy to carry, even with the built-in straps (and I'm fairly young and capable). The ball feed rate is not always consistent, but that doesn't bother me and keeps me on my toes. Loving it overall!

Great machine to get the whole family a workout now that we have a great "feeder". Remember to buy a ball hopper or you will get a lot more exercise than you think.

I use oscillation when I need a real workout and turn it off when I want to work out the kinks. This is great for a beginner (my son) since they already learned the rules, they just need a good feeder.

I also used pressureless balls, which works very well with this machine.

I would give it 5-star if it has wheels. Highly recommended though, best you can get at this price range!

We bought this for our daughter, who is playing competitive tennis in the juniors, as well as on the High School team. This machine is great!! Works the corners, you can adjust for moving up into the service courts for short shots, and if you need to get into shape, put this baby on occilate, and you go! Nice adjustments on speed delivery and intervals. This will help us out SO much! Straight shots so you can work on placing the ball, etc!! ONLY thing is DO NOT TRY TO USE DAMP OR WET BALLS!!! The balls HAVE to be dry! Some comments have been that it is heavy, but it really isn't. About 35-40 lbs. Other than that, this machine gets a 5***** from us!! Highly reccomended!!!!!

we purchased the I-sam largely because a playing partner of my wife had one for a couple of years. The unit seemed to hold up well for her friend and was sufficiently portable for our needs. My wife is comming back from achilles tendon surgery and this machine allows her many hours of controlled rehab on the court. My son who competes locally also finds the oppertunity to drill with the machine extremely helpful. All in all a quality product that fits the needs of our tennis family.

This was a gift for my husband who hadn't played for over five years. I thought he would want a machine with spin on the balls but I didn't want to pay for the machines that had the better reviews and spin. He's very happy with this machine. He been able to work on fundamentals including his volleying and movement. He's gets a real workout with this machine with plenty of room to increase the ball speed and feed intervals. You do have to take the machine to the outlet to charge the battery which isn't difficult but might be considered a negative by some people.

I've had the machine now for about 1 week. It is portable and easy to setup. Can get decent speed on the balls. Works very much like described.
The only significant complaint is that if you set the ball feed rate to 5 seconds, it may skip 1 or 2 balls and you wait 10 or 15 seconds. I am using about 50 balls in the machine and the problem gets worse when you have less than about 5 balls. It would also be nice if they included a list of suggested drills. Some other machines include a small book of drills, but you can find various drills by looking on the web.

I'm about a 3.5 level player and needed help with all phases of my game. This machine does a great job for me. I usually play against it by myself, so I normally only put about 100 balls in it (it will hold many more) and then set it up for what area of my game I'm working on. It doesn't fire the balls exactly to the same spot or at exactly the same speed, but I appreciate that even more than if it did so. Any time I change settings I stay next to the machine and let it fire a few balls to ensure the balls are going at the pace and angle that I want. I then turn it off, wait a few seconds and turn it back on to reset the 10 second delay. I usually hit 800 to 1,000 balls a session, and the battery has never run down on me. It easily recharges overnight so I'm ready for the next day. I have problems finding anyone who wants to play as much as I do, and there are no leagues within 50 miles of where I live. The iSAM substitutes for both of those by allowing me to consistently improve my game. The "Oscillate" mode will give you a workout! I set the machine on the baseline and adjust the settings so that it fires ball within the singles lines. Toward the end I'm lucky to get to one out of 3 balls, but a great aerobic workout trying. I love the iSAM & highly recommend it!

My I-Sam Model 1 arrived just a few weeks ago and so far I think it is amazing! I keep thinking: why didn't I get this years ago? - I would not have missed so many great "tennis weather" days simply because I didn't have anyone to play with. If my I-Sam continues to perform as it has, I will never miss many more of those days.

I did a lot of research before deciding on the I-Sam M1. I thought I needed a machine that would have more functions such as spins, vertical oscillation etc., but I was not willing to pay the price being asked for such machines (about twice the price of the I-Sam M1). Believe me, with the I-Sam M1 I do not miss any of those functions. I am an intermediate player and this machine provides all the practice shots I need and gives me a great work out. It is a lot of fun too - I thought I would miss the human factor of a "real" player, but so far I have not.

I read in some reviews complaints about this machine shooting balls too far into or beyond the baseline and having to place the machine several feet from the baseline to keep the balls within the court. Yes, this can happen and it happened to me the first day I used the machine. However, it is a function of the settings, and it can be easily changed by re-adjusting the settings. For instance, the second day I changed the elevation and speed settings (I put the elevation lever on the second notch (from the left) and increased the speed (to 5, 7 and then 9 - I had it between 0 and 1 the first day) and the machine shot great balls, all within the court boundaries - closer to/further from the baseline depending on the settings. I have not really tried the oscillation much because for now, I am getting a great practice session without it.

Other reviews I have read have also mentioned that this machine is a bit heavy. I agree - it could be lighter. The first day I took it out to the courts at a park near my home and it was very hard to carry. I only had to carry it a short distance from my car to the court and it was not easy. It felt very heavy and cumbersome and I had to stop to rest several times before finally getting to the court. The "carrying" strap was not a big help either . However, the use of a luggage cart, suggested in other reviews, solves this problem very nicely. The weight could still be an issue though, getting this machine in an out of the car for someone with a back problem, for instance, or someone who simply may not have the strength to lift a machine that is somewhat on the heavy side.

My only complaint is about the battery system. I ordered the Fast Charger and as far as I can tell it is working fine (I cannot tell for sure how well, as I have not had to fully recharge the battery yet). But my complaint is about not being able to pull the battery out of the machine to recharge it, instead of having to take the machine itself to the electric outlet location. Given the weight (and size/shape) of this machine and given that I plan to use it several times a week, this is something that I certainly wish could be improved. Also, not being able to easily take the battery out of the machine does not allow to (easily) replace the battery with another already charged, if it the charge runs out in the middle of a practice session.

Overall, I am very happy with the I-Sam M1 and hope it will continue working as it has for many years. It was very easy to set up and holds plenty of balls.

I bought the iSAM to work on my forehand and backhand and to get a good workout. I am very happy with the tennis ball machine so far. I bought I-SAM for improving my backhand and backhand volley. I-SAM arrived fully charged and earlier than expected. I-SAM has plenty of battery power for a 2-hour session. I let it plugged in all the time on trickle charge so that it is always ready to go. I-SAM is only thirty pounds in weight, so I was concerned that it might "walk" when firing shots, but the rubber feet keep it securely in place. I use a small hand cart with 7-inch diameter wheels to port it across grass and gravel and that works really well.

I decided on the I SAM over the others after studying the reviews for several days. At 56, and living 30 miles from a court, it is hard to find a partner when I want to play. This machine will work you to death. Primarily used for personal practice sessions for all aspects of the game, ground strokes, lobs, net practice. The I-Sam appears to be plenty durable and provides different elevations of delivery, ball speed, and random oscillation which will wear you out. Portable, but I did get a luggage dolly to haul it and my ball basket together to eliminate that stress. One negative is the sharp edge on the ball basket that will run against your leg during carrying, can leave an abrasion. Other than that, it meets all of my requirements for a good work out and stroke development session.

Did lots of research on Tennis Ball machines (Lobster, Tennis Tutor, iSAM etc) and finally settled on the iSAM because of the good reviews and the price.[...] The directions were included and it is surprisingly easy to use. You have to charge the battery overnight before using so take that into consideration before playing.The machine itself can fit into the back of a car, but I would consider buying a rolling cart of some sort to help transport it from your car to the courts. It wasn't difficult for my husband to carry it, but if he had to carry it more than 500 ft, I could see how it would be tiring. For me (forties, 5'2"), to carry this machine for 50 ft would be too much. Keep in mind you'll also be carrying your rackets, a boxful of balls, & your water bottles. So you can imagine, carting the iSAM on wheels is a good idea. The machine does have small wheels on the bottom but I don't see how you can transport it effectively this way. Before we bought a luggage cart, my husband used a bungee cord and pulled the iSAM along, but like a pull along toy it kept going off path & had to be redirected - a clumsy experience.The machine can easily hold 200 balls, I'm estimating we had 160 and there was still room for more. There's not much in terms of a multitude of gizmos - On/Off switch, On/Off Oscillator, Dial up Ball speed, Dial up Feed rate. You just adjust the first couple of balls to your liking then hit away. Believe me, you will get a workout after hitting 160-200 balls and will welcome the chance to stop & pick them up.So far the battery lasted 1-2 hours. It can probably last longer but unless you're a coach, I think this amount of time is suffice for 1-2 people. For us old folks, this is plenty. I recommend upgrading the battery charge tho for the convenience.I can't compare this machine to any other brand as I haven't tried the others. I found the iSAM to do its job of feeding consistent balls. I found the oscillator to have a wide range, sometimes too wide. We were running from one side of the court to the other and tiring ourselves out after 10 mins, but then again it could be our age.I would recommend the iSAM to anyone who wants a decent ball machine at a low price. It has been a great assistant coach. I set it up for the players on the team to work on ground strokes, slices, lobs, and volleys. With it on a low level of speed and frequency, a player can get 120 hits in 10 minutes of work. They have never seen so many consistent balls coming over the net. I wish the side to side swing wasn't so wide. It sends balls out of bounds on both sides.
Other than that, I love it.

I will be using this for my tennis team. Two hours alone with this machine gave me constant reps with my new 2 handed backhand which is invaluable.
They will be able to return 120 balls in 10 minutes. They wouldn't see that many good balls in two hours of practice with their teammates.

I bought the Tennis Machine for my wife and she loves it. Where we live it's not easy for her to find a partner to play tennis with and with this machine she can practice whenever she can find the time without having to try to find a partner to play with. She loves the machine and the independence of practicing as her time permits.

Unless you're a touring pro, this machine is all you need to work on your stroke mechanics. If you're looking for a workout, the oscillating mode will run you around quite nicely. So far the battery has plenty of life to get lots of hitting in.

I use the I-Sam about two to three times a week. It's a powerful machine. It can definitely pitch high speed balls. Its precision allows me to practice shots repetitively, which I find really helpful in building body memory. It holds a ton of balls, which means more play and less picking up balls. It's still way too heavy. I carry it on a luggage cart, and I make sure I'm going to a court where I don't have to carry it over gravel because I can't. It's just too heavy, not to mention I'm carrying balls as well. The Oscillation sweep on the machine is way too wide. I find it impossible to use even if I slow down the feed rate, because usually it overshoots the court on one side or the other. Disappointing as that is, I still like and enjoy the machine immensely.

I was also surprised out how quickly the set-up and take-down process of the I-Sam Tennis Ball machine. This encourages me to get out there hitting more often, without worrying about any hassles! I think the machine works very well. I also think it was a good value for the price. However, after less than 1 year of infrequent use, it stopped working. I got a new battery as suggested by their excellent support telephohe staff. However, that battery also stopped working after only a few sessions. I am just now sending my "control board" to the company, since they suggested that this might be the problem. I'm hoping it is.

Very good value. Price was reasonable for a machine with great quality and features. Kinda heavy but managable with a luggage carrier. Very simple operation and adjustments. Holds a ton of balls and can give a great workout, especially with the oscillator on. I got the battery upgrade, and it has lasted at least 4-5 hours (I dont know how long it would last if I could have continued playing, but I ran out of charge before it did!) Gives consistent throws. Can be adjusted for lobs, low passes, net play, etc. With ocsillator on, you have a tennis partner anytime you want!

I position the i-sam at various locations on the court and do doubles drills... for example: place the i-sam on the duece side with a forehand cross-court serve for a passing shot attempt at the partner at the net... and then switch...great workout!

This provides great practice when a partner is not available. You can practice a variety of shots - ground, volley, and overheads with different speeds and feed speeds. I love it. My only complaint is that it does not have wheels and I have to transport it on a luggage cart.

I bought this for my wife, but I use it as much as she does. It works great. It has controls to vary the speed and height that are great for working on ground strokes. Because it sits so low to the ground, it isn't very good for practicing return of serves. The battery life is good and still holds a charge well after 2 1/2 years. The one problem is that the oscillation motor stopped working after about a year (of very little use). When you turn oscillation on, the whole unit rotates on the base.

This product has been great for our family.
We play at 3 different levels. I am an intermediate player: the machine helps with my court range, tracking down balls at every corner.
My wife is a 3.0 player: she gets great practice with her volley. Our daughter who is 8 years old a beginer: she is having fun hitting the slow lob.

Only negative is carrying strap, which would be awkward for short people.

Used for ground strokes, volleys, approach shot and volley, fitness workout with oscillation, lobs, and overheads.

Set up for singles and doubles play.

The 10-second delay is perfect...makes you run across the court, but gives you sufficient time to prepare.

The addition of an automatic shut off when it runs out of balls would be a nice feature, so you don't have to guess when it has no balls left.

Occasionally hesitates and does not shoot out balls, but this is true with all inexpensive machines of this type.

Hope to get many hours of enjoyment and improvement out of this machine.

I use this product to help me lose weight. Everytime I use it, I use another feature. I am using the oscillator now and wow what a workout. I am getting stronger and I can practice whatever shots I want too. This product allows me to be the instructor and the student because the more I hit the balls the more I know what shot I need to improve on. For instance directing my shots down the line, across the court or practicing my backhand. I am toning up and that's what I want. I wonder what my body will look like by September?

I started playing tennis in the fall of 08 and bought this machine so I'd be able to consistently practice my basic strokes. It works well for that. There are problems with the oscillator though - the machine often sends the ball into the corners and out of the court. The problem can be mitigated somewhat by moving the machine way back and making a lot of adjustments but the user shouldn't have to do this. I've heard this from other users of the machine too. The other issue with the machine is portability - it's heavy and doesn't have wheels so it has to be carried. But for the price, in comparison to other machines, I'm happy enough.

I use the ISAM as my partner I can rely on it to be there when I am there. I never have to sit around and wait for someone to show to play. I can still get a great workout and not have to pay monthly fees to a tennis club. I should have invested in this type of product years earlier then I wouldn't have this weight issue and could have been enjoying the workout more regularly. Life is good. Oh yeah, the guys on the court have started asking questions about the ISAM too.

This machine is great to practice forehand, backhand and volleys! My game improved immensely after using it. Kids love this too! Oscillation feature gives a good workout, although it can be tricky to set up so that it doesn't overshoot the court. It is a little heavy and bulky to transport, especially at the end of practice when you're tired! A good value and a great machine!

The ball machine works perfectly. It's easy to adjust. It is difficult for a medium-sized woman to carry, but I believe there is a cart with wheels that can be purchased as an accessory. One relatively minor flaw: You have to remove the hopper to charge the machine. Other than that, it's great!

My wife can get it in and out of the trunk by herself and she wheels it around on a litt old folding luggage cart we have. It has plenty of battery for hours of use when charged. We have 150 balls and it holds all that. Easy to adjust height, speed and oscilation. May not throw hard enough for very advanced players.
