I bought this machine for my 7 yr old son and he just loves it! In fact his interest in Tennis has grown ever since he got the Lobster. I have already used it a few times and the best part is that I can let the machine feed the balls and concentrate on my son's hitting. Have tried almost all the functions and they all work great. I think the two-line function is great for alternate forehand and backhand practice. However, last couple of times, I have found the "upper wheel" come out of its slot rendering the machine ineffective. Though I was manually able to put the wheel back into slot, it has come out one more time since then. Not sure if this is a defect or one of normal conditions. But other than that there has been no complaints so far.

So far so good with the LB Elite 3.. It does everything as advertised!! The remote is extremely week however...it will work no closer than the net if you have the machine set up on opposite baseline...

Pros - Machine is very easy to transport and set up. It also throws a nice ball with great speed and very tough topspin when you want it. I love the workout the machine provides. And I've already noticed improvements in my game. I'm a 4.0 player and it's giving me all I can handle and more.
Cons - Remote is almost worthless. You don't ever know if it's working or not as it doesn't stop or start without 3 or 4 clicks. Also, the horizontal oscilation is a challenge unless you are a good athlete - the balls are thrown deep and wide into the corners. You must split step and be ready for the next ball or you will not get there in time. Maybe this isn't a con but for a beginner you wouldn't necessarily need this feature.

I didn't get a chance to use the machine yet because I am recovering from a surgery but it came faster than projected and in one piece!! I'll let you know once I actually use it!

The Lobster is portable in terms of weight and ability to fit into a car's trunk. The random oscillation is great for a workout, or if just want to practice your strokes. The machine will move you around the court. If you're looking at the Lobster 3 verses IV models, you should consider the IV as it has fully random spin and placement. The Lobster 3 only has random placement.

Overall, I like the product. Actually I showed it to a friend, and she's about to buy one as well.

I believe this is the best way to improve strokes. You can keep adjusting your strokes until you get it right. It's a great tool to improve timing as well. Within 2 days of using Elite 3, I already noticed significant improvement. Very time efficient.
My wife and I are at about the same level. It's really hard to improve unless we play against better players. Well, this machine is that (much) better player.
I guess you get the best possible result if you use this machine and get some coaching as well. A good coach can really point you in the right direction and that can make a big difference. I probably won't improve much if I hit 1000 balls the wrong way every day.
I chose Elite 3 over Freedom because I imagine the machine won't do me any good at all if it cannot produce spin.
I chose Elite 3 over Elite 1 and 2 because of the two-line function. I use the two-line function to practice alternate forehand and backhand, and movement. I read that some people use it for two players. That's cool too.
I didn't care for the programmable features of Elite GS 4 or 5.
I use Wilson US Open balls and I like them a lot. I really dislike pressure-less balls, though that's what they recommend for machines.
There are a number of things you can adjust to get the balls the way you want them: position of the machine, speed, angle, spin. I would adjust the settings one bit at a time while my wife is hitting until she is happy with the balls. It is super-easy to adjust the settings.
One thing: since the machine launches balls from a low position (close to ground), the ball trajectory (hence bounce) can be different from playing with a real person (human generally hits in between chest-waist level). This is really not a big problem. We adjusted to it rather quickly. One of these days, I will bring a wooden box and sit the machine on it to see what difference it would make!
One big plus: it is rather difficult to rally with a partner when wind is strong (15+ mph). Well, this machine is consistent, of course. So, you can still get decent practice with wind.
I get the premium fast charger. I think it is worth the expense --- will keep the battery life longer. I recharge after every use --- this will also lengthen the life of the battery. If you wait until the battery is completely worn out then charge them, the battery will wear out a lot faster.
At 44 lbs, the machine is not light, but I haven't hurt my back carrying the machine in and out of the car. But it's too heavy for most ladies.
If you like tennis a lot and you are serious about improving, consider the Elite 3. It's not cheap, but I think it is a great investment.

I got my lobster about 3 weeks ago and I love it. I've taken it out a handful of times and think it's great. Exceeded my expectations. Very easy to use and the best part about it is that it isn't very heavy and so easy to take from the car out to the courts.

We live very close to a court so we wheel it over when we can...A woman would have trouble getting it into a car because it is pretty heavy. We set it up to hit a nice spin to opposited sides and we can both practice our shots..We have also practiced hitting lobs and net and I have set it up for some neighbor kids to hit soft short shots....very easy and fun to use....the battery lasts at least an hour or so...we haven't ran it out yet

Horizontal movement broke while machine was still on warranty. Returned it, AT MY EXPENSE, to Lobster. Took a long time for the turn around. Used the machine a few times and the same malfunction occurred again. This time the warranty had expired. Lobster wanted to charge me for the repair. After an exceptionally long battle, they agreed to inspect the machine. Once again, I had to pay (UPS) for the return fee. The turn around was long again but they did repair the machine. Due to an elbow injury, I have only used the machine a few time since the last repair. It seems to work ok, but I do not know what will happen when it is used on a frequent basis.

Overall GREAT MACHINE. I use it regularly to work on all strokes (baseline, volleys, and overheads). Spin and depth buttons takes about 20 balls to fine tune, but once tuned, you can depend on the balls landing as programmed. Machine has great slices and lob capabilities. Battery life is awesome! I can go about 6 hrs without recharging and without any loss of power. Ball capacity is perfect (about 110 balls); more than that and you’re carrying a lot of stuff onto the court! Only con is that the remote control can be flaky. It doesn’t have very good range (only effective from the net) and even then it takes several pushes of the remote to get the machine to respond (stop or start). But, despite its flakyness, the remote is well worth the added expense. I switched from a 2-handed to a 1-handed backhand 2 years ago and this machine was instrumental in helping me develop a dependable stroke. Machine is fairly quiet, so you can use it without disturbing others palying around you. Knowing what I know, if I had to do it all over again, I'd buy the same machine. Friends have bough other brands and they compalin about lack of versatility and poor durability. I've experienced none of that -- and the machine still works like it did when I bought it 2+ yrs ago. Highly Recommend!
